Present Perfect

Appears in:SSCIBPSIELTSCATGREUPSCTOEFLPTE

Formula

Subject + has/have + past participle (V3)

When to Use

  • Actions completed but connected to the present
  • Life experiences (ever/never)
  • Recent actions with present effects
  • With signal words: just, already, yet, recently, since, for

Memory Tip

Present Perfect = PAST action with PRESENT connection. "I have lost my keys" — losing happened in the past but the keys are STILL missing NOW. It is a bridge between past and present!

English Explanation

Present Perfect connects a past action to the present moment. We use it when the exact time is not important or not mentioned.

  • Positive: Subject + has/have + V3
  • Negative: Subject + has/have + not + V3
