Memory Tip

Past Simple = CLOSED story. Done, finished, over. Always paired with time: yesterday, last week, in 2020, ago. No time word? It might need Present Perfect instead.

English Explanation

Past Simple describes actions that started and finished in the past. The time is usually mentioned. Regular verbs add -ed. Irregular verbs change form completely (go→went, eat→ate, buy→bought).
