## What is the Past Perfect Tense?
The **Past Perfect Tense** is used when **two actions happened in the past**, and you want to show which one happened **first**.
The action that happened **earlier** uses the Past Perfect.

## When to Use Past Perfect
Use the Past Perfect when:
1. **One past action happened before another past action**
→ She **had left** the office before I arrived.
2. **With time expressions:** before, after, already, when, by the time
→ By the time the film started, we **had taken** our seats.
3. **In Indirect Speech** (backshift of Present Perfect)
→ He said, "I have finished." → He said he **had finished**.
4. **In Third Conditional** sentences
→ If I **had studied** harder, I would have passed.
